# TextifAI product context

TextifAI is a narrative semantic engine for long-form fiction authors.

It helps authors turn manuscripts into structured, evidence-linked canon so AI can support revision, continuity work, and story analysis without replacing author control.

## Why it exists

Chat history is temporary. Generic AI memory is not canon-aware. Raw RAG can retrieve text, but it does not solve continuity, ambiguity, review decisions, or author intent across a long story.

Long-form fiction needs durable narrative memory: a system that can preserve canon, surface evidence, and keep revisions consistent.

## Core concepts

- Narrative memory: persistent story state built from the manuscript.
- Canon: the current authoritative record of facts, entities, and relationships.
- Evidence-linked context: every important claim should point back to source passages.
- Review decisions: author-visible approvals, corrections, and overrides.
- Continuity: keeping names, timelines, relationships, and world facts aligned.
- Author control: the writer stays in charge of final story truth.

## Product shape

TextifAI focuses on manuscript ingestion, narrative entity extraction, canon organization, evidence-backed context, and reviewable suggestions. It is designed as a support layer for long-form fiction, not as an autonomous novelist.

## Current status

TextifAI is in early access and active development. Public claims should stay conservative and limited to documented product behavior.
